Dear Morrissey,

Please stop releasing:

  1. Crappy compilations
  2. Crummy reissues
  3. Overproduced nonsense
    (Hint: your last two albums)

From,

Adrian

Friday morning boredom leads me to dig very deeply into my Music collection and up comes “The Spaghetti Incident?”, Guns and Roses’ interesting excursion into the world of doing bad covers of punks songs. I always thought it was meant to be the other way round, with punk bands doing bad covers of songs. Well I say songs, they generally do covers of bad 80’s cheese like 99 red ballons (or however you say it in German).

Anyway, the significance of this album is that it was the first album I ever bought for myself. I remember seeing the cassette sat there in the local shop with the ever so enticing “explicit lyrics” sticker on. No ten year old boy can resist advertising like that. I think I listened to the album to death and moved on after a month or two to Meatloaf or something equally crap, but its nice to revisit it…

Spaghetti Incident

(nb. it wasn’t the first album I ever listened to, I do have fond memories of stealing cassettes off of my Mum and Sister)

I saw Kristin Hersh last week as a belated birthday present. (I’m 25 now. It sucks)

I used to think that I couldn’t like Throwing Muses anymore than I already do. But, I was wrong. I now can’t stop listening to them and I’m utterly addicted. The only time I stop listening to them is when I put the new radiohead album on once a day. I only do that as I’m kinda enjoying it in the same way I enjoyed “ok computer” and “the bends”…

I saw the Cure last month in Melbourne. It was pretty amazing to tell the truth, they literally played all my favourite songs, even obscure album tracks and B-sides. Anyway, next month I get to see Kristin Hersh, she better play all my favourite Throwing Muses tracks or else…

I have finally installed Last.fm on my Macbook. I had this on windows for a while, but got lost in my transition to OSX. Its a shame I haven’t been using this for a while as I would have liked to see what my stats would look like after about 6months of usage, ah well in 6 months, we shall see…

You can see my profile here…

I just signed up for Last.Fm instead of revising. It’s pretty cool so far.

The basic jist of it is that you install a plugin for your media player that sends the tracks you play on it to a central database and you can then see what has been listened to on your profile page. This means my music tastes are now exposed to the public and I may have to start listening to good music, that isn’t utter shite and embarassing *deletes wham mp3’s*

Anyway, check out my profile here and see below for my latest tracks.
